What's next for Chimera 2?

Now that Code is Just is complete, you might well wonder what the future of Chimera 2 is?

  • There won't be daily updates as there were specifically for the thread, but of course, I will continue to update the demo until it becomes a game.
  • I will continue to release experimental builds. By this I mean I'll try some things out, and some will go well, others won't and will be discarded. I will be guided by your feedback.
  • I will retain the old school isometric look, but in time will create additional visuals.
  • The design will change, so that you won't be looking at the original Chimera 1 maze anymore.
  • The game will change design from a simple, four-step maze puzzle to something larger and more nuanced, with more puzzle, less maze, more action.
  • The game will remain multi-format. Look, I've got a Steam Deck now, so I want it to run on that — Linux builds aren't going away! This also means I'll eventually be moving this to Steam to incorporate the official API, but that's quite a way off yet.
  • There's some basic controller integration, this will be refined, but some keyboard will be necessary because of the terminal
  • I'll be experimenting with walls, and like in Nightshade, these will disappear as you move from room to room so that they don't obstruct the view
  • Eventually, this is not a promise, but my ambition is to make the game highly customisable and perhaps even moddable (if that's not a word, my apologies.)

Thanks for your support!
